Important Information for Clients

CANCELLATIONS AND MISSED APPOINTMENTS

Effective January 1, 2024

The tea:

Minds In Motion Counseling charges a fee of $125.00 for late cancellation and no shows.

Three (3) late cancellations and/or missed appointments (no show) will result in the termination of treatment and referral to a new provider.

24-hour notice for cancellations is required to avoid penalties.

But why?

A late cancel or no-show hurts at least three people: you, your therapist, and another client who could have utilized your time slot. Therapy sessions are scheduled in advance and are a time reserved exclusively for my clients. When a session is cancelled without adequate notice, I am unable to fill this time slot by offering it to another current client or a client with a clinical emergency.

You may consent to receive a courtesy text or email reminder. However, it remains solely your responsibility to keep track of and attend all scheduled therapy appointments whether or not you receive the reminder.

I use discretion in the event of illness or emergency. Some examples of emergencies are car accidents, death in the family, extreme illness, or alien abduction. This policy applies even if missing the appointment was unintentional.

Isn’t this a little much? It’s just therapy.

Please understand that therapy should be viewed as any other important medical appointment. I value you as a client, and I truly hope to help you in all your endeavors. While it is a time commitment, therapy is for your personal improvement and consistency is key to achieve this.

What if it’s just not a good time right now?

Great question! If you find that you are currently unable to commit to therapy, I welcome you to return when you can commit and invest in yourself and your wellness.
